This is the page for you if you are ready to install your iDevspot software app and want lots of details on how to do this. If you would prefer, you can purchase our php script installation service. Note: These instructions apply to most iDevspot php scripts.
If you are installing PhpHostBot or AutoHost, please also check out the 'Documentation folder' found in your download.
[PRE-INSTALL NOTES] - IMPORTANT - DO NOT SKIP THIS!!!
The term "scriptfolder" applies to the main directory name of your script. (For example, if you purchased our "DigiVendorPro" script, your ‘script folder’ would be "digivendorpro" by default.)
You CAN rename the main script folder if you wish, before you upload it to your website. You might prefer to call it "store" or "directory", that is fine!. The important part is that you substitute the term "scriptfolder" for the new name that you chose.
The same applies to examples like "www.yourdomain.com" - this example does not mean type in "yourdomain.com" it means that you should substitute "yourdomain.com" for your ACTUAL domain name.
Installation Instructions:
1. Start by extracting the product zip file which you downloaded from our website. Inside you will find a "scriptfolder" main directory, which contains sub-directories and files.
2. Unzip your script folder to a new folder on your hard drive.
3. If you would like to rename your script,do it now, before your upload it to your website.
4. Open your File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program and log in with your domain name, FTP username and FTP password. This is the program you will use to upload your new script.
5. Upload the "scriptfolder" to your website. It can go anywhere that you want, within your public_html or wwwroot equivalent directory.
Can I make the script as my homepage? For certain scripts (ie. directory scripts, e-commerce storefronts etc., some users may want to use their website home page.Yes! Most iDevSpot scripts come with an index.php file, which you can make into your homepage by opening your script folder on the local side and then transferring the entire script folder contents into public_html or wwwrootequivalent directory.
Can I make the script a new page on my website?Yes. You can make your iDevSpot script into a new page on your website by transferring the script folder itself into public_html or wwwrootequivalent directory.
THERE! You have now uploaded your new iDev script onto your web server.
6. Now, you need to CHMOD certain files. The following files/directories need to be made writable. (CHMOD to 777 - read, write, execute permissions for owner, user and group).
/include/mysql.php
Additionally : most of iDevSpot scripts also contain the following directories which need to be made writable. If you DO NOT have these directories, then skip this part:
/product_images
/product_images/large
/product_images/thumb
/product_images/tmp

Q. How do I make a file writable (CHMOD)? A. It depends on your FTP program. Try a Google search for "how to CHMOD with (name of your FTP software) or search your FTP software's help documentation.Q. My server does not allow me to CHMOD / set file permissions. A. You will need to follow the alternative installation steps. Open /scriptfolder/include/mysql.php in a plain text editor such as notepad and follow the steps found there.
7. Create a MySQL database on your web server.Q. How do I create a MySQL database? A.This will vary from server to server, your hosting control panel should have a MySQL databases area, where you will be able to create a database, database user, and database password. Search your web hosting control panel for help if you are not sure how to create a MySQL database.
8. Run the installation. Open a new web browser and copy and paste the link below into your web browser (making sure to fill in the correct information specific to your website for 'YOURDOMAIN' and 'SCRIPTFOLDER'): http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/SCRIPTFOLDER/install/install.php
9. An installation form will appear asking you to:
Fill in your host, database username, database password, database name (these are from creating your MySQL database)
Create your desired admin username and password (these you will create now, and will be used for future login to your script admin panel).
10. Click Install. Q. I get a 404 not found, why? A.Did you substitute YOURDOMAIN for your ACTUAL domain? Did you also substitute SCRIPTFOLDER for the actual name of your script folder?Q. Getting a database connection error? A.This error means that the database connection can't be established with the entered values. It could be either your host value, database name value, database username or database password value. Usually the host value setting can be found in your web hosting database admin panel, (where you setup the database). It can look like one of the examples below, however, if you can't find the host value, please contact your web host for helpExamples of host value: - localhost - mysql - an IP address (ie. 87.44.221.23 - name.someserver.net
11. After clicking 'Install', you will be brought to your new script admin login.
Sign in with the new admin login and password you created on the previous screen.
12. Important! Delete from your website the following folder and all of it's contents:
